Abstract
Sweet corn (Zea mays L.), is one type of carbohydrate source other than rice. The sweet corn plant has several varieties. Each variety has its own advantages, both in terms of nutrition and productivity. During the process of cultivating corn crops there are sometimes several obstacles, one of which is the disruption of plant destruction organisms. One of the plant destruction organisms that often interferes with corn crop is Curvularia lunata fungus that causes leaf spotting disease. The use of resistant varieties is one of the important steps to control the growth of diseases in plants. The purpose of this study was to find out the most resistant varieties of corn and how much the severity of leaf spotting disease by C. lunata fungus in some varieties of sweet corn crops were tested. This study used 4 varieties of sweet corn used as treatment, the method used is Randomized Block Design (RBD). Each treatment is repeated 5 times. The parameters observed are the number, width, and length of spotting, the severity of the disease, the state of the environment, and the yield. Based on the results of the study shows that the higher the severity of the disease will have an impact on the decrease in crop yields. The highest weight of cob weight is found in Paragon varieties, followed by the other three varieties namely Super Sweet Corn, Sweet Boy, and Bimmo. Based on the average severity of the disease, Sweet Boy variety is a variety that is slightly more susceptible to leaf spot disease while Paragon variety is a variety that is resistant to leaf spotting disease.
