Abstract

Pagar Alam is one of the suppliers of Gerga citrus fruit in South Sumatra. Gerga citrus plants were cultivated for the first time were in North Dempo District, with a land area of about 123.98 km2, where the majority of the people in the village are the gems of their livelihoods as farmers, both horticultural farmers and farmers of annual crops such as coffee. It is known as fertile soil area and cold weather, so this area is good for farming. There are 10 farmer groups that are still active in fostering orange gerga farmers in Agung Lawangan Village, Dempo Utara District, Pagar Alam City. The objectives of this research are: 1) How is the role of farmer groups in the cultivation of citrus gerga in Agung Lawangan Village, Dempo Utara District Pagaralam. 2) How much is the income from the gerga citrus farming in Agung Lawangan Village, Dempo Utara District Pagaralam. 3) How is the correlation between the role of farmer groups in increasing the income of gerga citrus farmers in Agung Lawangan Village, Dempo Utara District, Pagaralam. Data collection was carried out in February 2021. The method used in this study was the survey method. The sampling method in this study was a simple random method, the researcher took samples by determining the criteria as follows: has a minimum land area of 1 ha and has joined the farmer group for at least 2 years. The results of this study indicate that the role of the gerga citrus farmer groups in Agung Lawangan Village is sufficient or moderate. The average income of gerga orange farmers in Agung Lawangan Village in one year is IDR 24.042.836,- ha /th. Based on the results of the study, there is a close and positive relationship between the role of farmer groups on the income of gerga citrus farmers in Agung Lawangan Village, Dempo Utara District.
