Abstract

This study aims to describe student motivation in choosing Economics Education study program at FKIP Sriwijaya University. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The population in this study were active students of the Economic Education study program, FKIP Sriwijaya University, for the academic year 2018, 2019, 2020, the Indralaya and Palembang campuses, totaling 215 people. The sampling technique used was proportionate stratified random sampling with a total of 140 people. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed by data triangulation analysis technique. The results of this study have shown that students' motivation in choosing a study program is dominated by intrinsic motivation, which is 73% consisting of desires and interests, compared to extrinsic motivation of 61% consisting of family, friends, BK teachers, environment and perceptions.
