Abstract
This study aims to determine the use of turmeric flour and ascorbic acid in the diet on the relative weight of the digestive tract of Arabian silver chicken. This research was conducted for 7 weeks at the Experimental Cage Laboratory of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Department of Animal Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The livestock used in this study were 60 silver Arab chickens and 27 weeks of age. The ration used was a basal ration consisting of corn, rice bran and concentrate added with turmeric flour and ascorbic acid. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 7 replications. As a unit of variable: R0 (Control), R1 (Basal Ration containing 150 mg of vitamin C), R2 (Basal ration containing 1% turmeric powder), R3 (Basal ration containing 150 mg vitamin C and 1% turmeric powder. Variables observed were the relative weight of the cache, the relative weight of the gizzard, the relative weight of the small intestine, and the relative weight of the cecum. The data were analyzed using variance (ANOVA) and if there was a significant difference, it would be continued with Duncan's test. The results of this study indicate that the administration of turmeric flour and Ascorbic acid in the diet had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the relative weight of the digestive tract of Arabian silver chicken. The conclusion of this study was that the administration of turmeric flour and ascorbic acid in the diet had not been able to increase the relative weight of the digestive tract of Arabian silver chicken.
