Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out and understand a village government in preventing peatland fires in Siju Village, Rambutan District, Banyuasin Regency. The study used a qualitative descriptive method. Interviews were conducted with informants from the Siju Village Government, Rambutan District and the KARHUTLA Task Force for the Rambutan District. The result of the research is that the Siju Village Government allocates disaster management funds by incorporating policy elements that lead to the prevention of peatland fires such as the Independent Village for Peatland Fire Disaster Response through integration into village planning (RPJMDesa, RKPDesa and APBDesa). In the implementation phase, the Siju village government in collaboration with the Karhutla Task Force and the BPD provided training for Independent Villages in Responding to Peatland Fires, the people of Siju Village were given an introduction to the independent village program for responding to peatland fires, discussions on disaster vulnerability, disaster threats and the capacity of Siju Village, discussions and development of vulnerability, threat and capacity maps, discussions on the preparation of disaster prevention plans and community action plans and development of communication systems. After the peatland fire, the Siju village government played a role in revegetation. The second is through the information system for peatland fires, where the Siju village government uses technology applications to determine the hotspots of fire-prone areas when entering the dry season in Siju Village and the availability of fire fighting equipment such as water pumps, fire uniforms, drilled wells and canal blocking maintenance. The inhibiting factors of the Village Government in Preventing Peat Fires in Siju Village are two factors, namely the first climatic conditions. Furthermore, the behavior of the people of Siju Village, where there are still unscrupulous people and companies clearing land by burning the land which can spread and cause severe peatland fires in several areas of Siju Village.
