Abstract
This study aims to analyze the quality of tin sand before processing using a sluice box, determine the parameters of a good sluice box, and can produce SnO2 levels that meet the standardization of the smelter industry, as well as analyze the recovery value and concentration of Sn in the tin sand produced from the smelter. sluice box. The activities or research are carried out at the Mineral Processing Laboratory at Sriwijaya University and the Geological Engineering Petrology Laboratory at Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research was conducted with the variable under study was feeding speed time. The feeding speed used in the study varied, namely 30 seconds, 35 seconds, and 40 seconds. While the height of the riffle used is 4mm, 6mm, and 8mm with a width of 10cm, 15cm, and 20cm, respectively. The constant variables in this study were the water flow rate, which was 60 L/minute, the slope of the instrument was 6.27 degrees, and the sample weight was 1000 grams. Based on research that has been carried out as many as 27 experiments, there are 9 experiments that have Sn levels that have increased to meet the standardization of the smelter industry. The highest Sn content value from the experimental results was with a variable feeding speed of 35 seconds, riffle height 4 mm, and riffle width 15 cm, namely 72.40% with a recovery of 57.47%. While the lowest value of Sn content from the experimental results is the variable speed of feeding 30 seconds, riffle height 8 mm, width 10 cm, which is 63.70% with a recovery of 66.83%.
