Abstract

Research has been carried out on the manufacture of cat tail carbon as a porous electrode on electrochemical double layer capacitors (KLGE). KLGE is made using electrodes from a cat's tail plant. This study aims to prepare carbonaceous plants electrochemically using a variety of electrolytes of NaHCO3 (sodium bicarbonate), NaNO3 (sodium nitrate) and NaCl (sodium chloride) with various electrolyte concentrations. The carbon from pyrolyzed cat tails was characterized using XRD (X-ray Diffraction) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). XRD diffractogram results showed the two highest peaks at 2θ, namely 28.54° and 29.60°. SEM results show that the morphology of cat tail carbon is amorphous. The highest cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurement results were found in the NaHCO3 2M electrolyte using a 7: 3 graphite-carbon ratio electrodes with a capacitance value of 8.0067 F, energy reaching 8.4553 mW.h, and power reaching 0.4003 mW. In general, KLGE meets the requirements with a minimum capacitance value of 0.01 F.
