Abstract

PT Semen Indonesia (Persero), Tbk is one of the companies exploiting limestone resources in Indonesia. The mining method used is the open pit method. The main mining activities consist of overburden removal, blasting, loading, transportation from the mining site to the processing crushing plant, and transportation to the shipping site. The blasting process is one of the processes used to dismantle to reduce the size of the material involved in the production of minerals. The current situation in the field shows that the blasting fragmentation is still a lot oversized, namely the blasting fragmentation of ≥ 60 cm is estimated to be above 15%, which exceeds the company standard. With this large amount will have an impact on the excavation process carried out by the Komatsu PC 300 backhoe with a Bucket Capacity of 1.8 m3, the Komatsu PC 300 backhoe will experience difficulties in the excavation process which affects productivity and accelerates tool damage. The results of the analysis that have been carried out show that based on the seven research locations that have been determined, namely blocks GG-17, EE-16, DD 17/18 for soft strength rock and blocks W-14, Y-12, Q-12, W-12 for Rock hard strength rock, shows the percentage of blasting fragmentation for limestone size ≤60 cm of 83,283% while for limestone ≥ 60 cm has a percentage of 16,717%. These results indicate that the resulting blasting fragmentation has exceeded the percentage set by the company which indicates that the blasting implementation is still less than optimal, so that it can affect productivity and interfere with further blasting activities due to the material remaining at the blasting location.
