Abstract
Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) is a method of giving cutting fluid to machining with a minimum capacity. One of the advantages of using MQL is that it is able to provide surface roughness results with the lowest values. The method used is the minimum quantity lubrication method which is carried out in two conditions. The first condition, the MQL tool will spray in the open to get the output of oil volume. The second condition is spraying using an MQL tool in the milling process to get the surface roughness value, the milling process used is the side milling process, with the down milling position. In this study, the independent variables are valve opening, cutting speed (Vc), feed rate (fz), and depth of cut, and the dependent variables are oil volume output, and surface roughness (Ra). The results showed that the larger the valve opening, the greater the output volume of oil obtained. From the results of testing the MQL tool that has been obtained, the first MQL value of the output volume of oil managed to achieve a good MQL category result compared to the value of the output volume of oil on the second MQL tool. Surface roughness testing using variations in cutting speed is better than feeding variations, it can be seen from the results of surface roughness values which show that the greater the cutting speed, the smaller the surface roughness, than the greater the feed motion, the greater the surface roughness.
