Abstract

The study aimed to determine the pollen’s morphological character of six species of Apocynaceae, and to know relationships based on the morphological character of the pollen. This descriptive study describes the morphological character of the six types of pollen Apocynaceae namely Allamanda cathartica, Allamanda blanchetii, Plumeria rubra, Plumeria rubra var. acutifolia, Adenium obesum, Adenium obesum 'Red'. The pollen observation uses the acetity method and uses a light microscope against polar axial length, equatorial diameter, P/E index, pollen unit, size type, polar shape, shape based on P/E, polarity, symmetry, apertura type, number of apertura and apertura position. Relationship analysis through cluster analysis using NTSYS software. The results showed that pollen of all six types of Apocynaceae had monad units, medium-sized (mediume) and large (magnae) types, circular and semi-angular polar shapes, P/E-based shapes ranging between spheroidal oblate-suboblate-oblate, isopolar and heteropolar polarities, radial and bilateral symmetry, apertura classes varying between tricolpate, hexaporate, and tetraporate. Based on the dendogram of relationship analysis, relationships are divided into two main clusters, namely the first group consisting of Allamanda cathartica, Plumeria rubra, Plumeria rubra var. Acutifolia, and the second group consists of Allamanda blanchetii, Adenium obesum and Adenium obesum 'Red.' The results of this study have implications as a material enrichment of Biology SMA Class X on Basic Competence 3.3 The principles of the classification of living things in five kingdoms in the form of a learning device.
