Abstract

Interpersonal communication between coach and athlete is very important in improving athlete performance. One of the ways that new trainers do this is by communicating in two directions and building relationships or what is called interpersonal communication. This study aims to see how the interpersonal communication carried out between coaches and athletes and the trainer's obstacles in making interpersonal communication to student athletes in beautiful jumping in increasing achievement at the South Sumatra Province Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora). The theory used in this research is Joseph DeVito's theory, with a humanistic aspect approach, namely openness, empathy, supportive attitudes, positive attitudes, and equality. Qualitative descriptive research. The sampling technique used is objective. Interview techniques, participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis using qualitative analysis. The results of this study are five aspects of the humanistic approach as well. The strongest aspect is openness, while what needs to be improved is a positive attitude, namely discipline towards time.
