Abstract

HI PROVITE 782 fodder fish pellets are used as raw materials because this type of feed is easy to find and has a high nutritional content. This study has a purpose to looked at the effect of ozone treatment on the quality of fodder fish pellets in the form of levels of protein and water content. The ozone used in the study was generated from the cylinder DBD chamber using aluminum granules as electrodes with a chamber length of 25 cm and 30 cm. The alternating high voltage used as source is 6 kV to 7 kV. The results showed that at a voltage 7 kV, DBD chamber with a length of 30 cm produced the highest of ozone concentration, which was 457,10 ppm when compared to DBD chamber length of 25 cm was 307,84 ppm. Ozone treatment was carried out on test samples of fodder fish pellets using an ozone concentration of 279,85 ppm. The variations in the duration of ozone treatment used are 15 minutes and 30 minutes. While the variation of the thickness of the test samples were 2 mm, 4 mm and 6 mm. Testing levels of protein in fodder fish pellets test samples used the Kjeldahl method. The increased in the quality of fodder fish pellets was highest in test samples with a thickness of 2 mm and an ozone treatment time of 30 minutes. Levels of protein increased by 17,41 % at 15 minutes of ozone treatment and significantly increased to 50,40 % at 30 minutes of ozone treatment compared with test samples without ozone treatment by 9,61 %. Testing water content in fodder fish pellets test samples used oven method at 105˚C for 3 hours. Water content decreased by 1,19 % at 15 minutes of ozone treatment and decreased significantly by 10,95 % at 30 minutes of ozone treatment compared to the test samples without ozone treatment by 40,78%.
