Abstract

Conflict is a social phenomenon where there are a contradiction or dispute between individuals with groups, groups with groups, or groups with the government. Conflict can be a form of tools to achieve an interest. This research explains how the United Arab Emirates was involved in the conflict that occurred in Yemen from 2015 to 2019. The involvement of the United Arab Emirates in Yemen is to achieve its national interests. So the writer uses Donald E. Nuechterlein's concept of national interest to analyze and classify these interests. The four types of national interests that the authors describes in this research are:World Order Interests, Ideology Interests, Defence Interests, and Economic Interests. The author uses qualitative research methods and the type of research is descriptive. References and data used come from secondary data. This secondary data is obtained from literature study such as books, journals, research, reports, documents from the internet and news. The results of this study describe that the interests of the United Arab Emirates in the conflict in Yemen in 2015-2019 are to establish a strong image and influence in the Gulf, increase strategic shipping lanes to gain new market share in international trade, then moved to project its power from the Gulf. to the Horn of Africa by virtue of its position as a logistics center for regional trade and maritime security and kicked out Islah as part of Muslim Brotherhood organization.
