Abstract

This research, in general, is to study the possible application of the Two Seedlings Planting System, to produce baby corn and sweet corn, respectively. In particular, this study aims to compare the growth and yield of sweet corn generation F1, F2 and F3 grown in a two seedlings planting system to produce baby corn. The research was conducted on agricultural land in collaboration with farmers in Pulau Panggung Village, Semende Darat Laut Subdistrict, Muara Enim Regency from October 2020 to April 2021. This research was conducted based on a Randomized Block Design (RAK). Data analysis to compare the growth and yield of sweet corn generations F1, F2 and F3 grown in a two seedlings planting system to produce baby corn was carried out following the Factorial Design pattern, including generations (F1, F2, F3) and planting systems (T1 and F3). T2). Mean while, data analysis to compare the growth and yield of baby corn plants of the F1, F2, and F3 generations planted simultaneously (planting system of two seedlings to produce sweet corn) was carried out following the pattern of Design 1 Treatment Factor, namely generation (F1, F2, and F3) in a planting system of two seedlings (T2). The study used 3 blocks as replicates, so there were 18 experimental units. The growth and yield of sweet corn and baby corn showed variations depending on the F1, F2, and F3 generations the one plants system of one seedling (T1) and two seedlings (T2) planting system used. The growth and production of F1 generation plants, in general, is superior to produce sweet corn, especially using one plant seedling (T1) planting system. The use of a two seedlings (T2) planting system to produce sweet corn and baby corn is possible to use by farmers, especially by using F2 or F3 seeds, because of saving in purchasing seeds, also can produce sweet and baby corn fairly accepted by the community.
