Abstract

One of the efforts to prevent the speard of the Covid-19 virus, that can be done is to improve personal hygiene. Personal hygiene is very important to be implemented to maintain health, especially in children. This study aims to determine the relationship between personal hygiene knowledge and understanding of the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design with a multistage random sampling technique of 260 respondents. The data was obtained from filling out an online questionnaire in the form of a google form. Data analysis was performed univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge of hand washing (p= 0.000), knowledge of using masks (p= 0.000), and knowledge of actions after leaving the house (p= 0.012) with understanding of the Covid-19 pandemic. It can be concluded that knowledge of hand washing, use of masks, and action after leaving the home of Junior High School Negeri 35 Palembang students are good for understanding the Covid-19 pandemic. It is hoped that theschool will also continue to provide direction to students about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene during the Covid-19 pandemic.
