Abstract

The issue of mental health is an issue that is widely discussed in Indonesia. Kunto Aji is one of the musician who is concerned with mental issues, this can be seen from the release of the “Pilu Membiru Experience” video clip that Kunto himself mentioned to relieve the trauma from its survivors. This study wants to see how audiences who have had a similiar (traumatic) experience interpret the mental health issues brought up in Pilu Membiru Experience video clip. This study uses qualitative methods with descriptive techniques. The theory used in this research is Encoding-Decoding from Stuart Hall. The data of this study were obtained from primary data and the results of in-depth interviews with informants who had watched the video clip. The results of this study found that four people were in a dominant hegemonic position, and one person was in a negotiating position.
