Abstract

This research is entitled “Construction of Political Reality in Mass Media (Framing Analysis on the Online News Portal Site Sripoku.com in the News of the Prosperous Waste Bank in Kalidoni, January 26, 2018 to Juli 14, 2020)” by Muqoddas. This study aims to determine how the framing of events carried out by Sripoku.com in reporting about the prosperous waste bank in Kalidoni. The framing theory used is the analysis theory of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. This model explains to see the reality behind discourse from the mass media and is an art that can produce different conclusions if the analysis is carried out by different people, including syntax, script, thematic and rhetoric. The method applied is a qualitative method using data collection. Data collection was carried out through observation of the news published on the Sripoku.com page related to the prosperous waste bank news on January 26, 2018 to July 14, 2020. From the results of data analysis in this study, 16 news items were obtained, all of which were analyzed completely. In the problem approach, Sripoku,com defines the news a delivery only. While the source of this news, Sripoku.com raises the name of the government in its news articles. In making decisions, Sripoku.com explained that this news would become an example for the people of Palembang City, especially the Kalidoni people and become a role model for all people to see the figure of the government. Even though it is only a news framing made by the article writer.
