Abstract

This research is entitled “The Role Of Women Farmers In Regulating Irrigation Water At The Water User Farmers Association (P3A) Of Embung Tabek Gadang Nagari Guguak Sijunjung Regency West Sumatera Province”. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of women farmers in regulating irrigation water at the assciation of farmers using water (P3A) in Embung Tabek Gadang Nagari Guguak Sijunjung Regency West Sumatera Province. The theory used in this research in the Role Theory oh Soerjono Soekanto. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. Determination of informants in this study using purposive. Informants in this study amounted to 12 informants consisting of 7 main informants ang 5 supporting informants. Types and sources of data obtained through primary data ang secondary data with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The result of this study indicate that there are 3 roles of womwn farmers in regulating irrigation water, namely an active role, a participatory role and a passive role. The role of women farmers in regulating irrigation water can be seen from their presence and participation in activities such as maintenance of irrigation canals and meeting of P3A members. While the rules that have been made by the P3A group are ofthen not obeyed by the farmers when the dry season and rainy season accur and sanctions can be given to farmers who violate the rules, namely by bringing 1 bag of coment in order to provide a deterrent effect to farmers who violate the rules.
