Abstract

This study examines the performance of the heads of regional apparatus organizations in local government in 17 (seventeen) regencies/cities throughout the province of South Sumatra which is considered important because it is a benchmark for accountability, performance-based budgeting, employee orientation, community progress, and bureaucratic reform. To test the success of the intended performance, 6 (six) indicators are used, namely; standard operating procedures, timeliness of work, skills and knowledge, accuracy, quantity of work, and production effectiveness. Given the importance of the performance of the heads of regional apparatus organizations in regional government, the topic of this research is how strategies to improve the performance of regional heads of organizations are influenced by self-efficacy, trust, and affective commitment. This study will develop a concept to resolve the research gap above with the concept of competitive joint leadership with a performance theory approach, synthesis of leadership theory and symbolic interaction theory as a reference for the preparation of intervening variables, as well as social cognition theory. The research method was designed descriptively and quantitatively. Using primary data sources through an interval scale of 1-10 respondents 230. In capacity as an intervening variable, competitive joint leadership is not an intervening variable that can further improve the performance of regional heads of organizations. This is because the direct influence of the dependent variable on the independent variable is higher than through the intervening variable.
