Abstract

Motocross Grand Prix is a world championship event in the automotive sector, many countries in the world have hosted this event, one of them is Indonesia especially in Palembang City in 2019 which was located in Jakabaring and the place is one of the best racing arenas in the world. This study aims to find out what public diplomacy is being carried out by the South Sumatra Provincial Government in organizing the Motocross Grand Prix in Palembang City in 2019. The method used in this study is qualitative data analysis techniques with content analysis to form ideas in helping to decipher textual data in order to find the most common data disclosed in the South Sumatra Provincial Government in collaboration with international media. The researcher uses public diplomacy theory to find out what public diplomacy is being carried out by the South Sumatra Provincial Government in organizing the Motocross Grand Prix in Palembang City in 2019. The results of this study indicate that the South Sumatra Provincial Government has formed various committee structures for the sustainability and success of this event, cooperated with various international media coverage and official social media of the Motocross Grand Prix, conducted cultural exchanges through championship events attended by tourists from various countries in the world, and invited various agencies to get public opinion in managing an international environment.
