Abstract
Rice consumption is one of the staple food consumptions that has and important position besides corn, sago, and sweet potatoes. Rice also contains 360 Kcal, 6,6 grams of protein, 0,58 grams fat, and 79,34 grams of carbohydrates which can improve nutrition. The objectives of this research are: (1) Analyze the proportion of total household consumption expenditure in total income in Sembawa Sub District Banyuasin District, (2) Analyze the proportion of rice consumption expenditure in the total expenditure in Sembawa Sub District Banyuasin District, (3) Analyzing the effect of income, number of household members, age, and education on the amount and quality of household rice consumption stairs in Sembawa Sub District Banyuasin District. The research method used in this study is the survey method and data collection using the interview method with the help of a questionnaire. The study was conducted in February 2021 with a total of 45 households from high, medium, and low income groups. Data processing using multiple linear regression equation analysis and logistic regression with the help of SPSS application. The results showed that the proportion of household consumption expenditure in high income group was 29,63%, the medium income group was 58,51%, the low income group was 107,46%, and proportion of household consumption expenditure decreases significantly with increase in the level of total household income. The proportion of household rice consumption expenditure in the high income group was 22,31%, the medium income group was 28,35%, and the low income group was 42,99%. Then the results of multiple linear regression analysis and logistic regression showed that income and age had a negative effect on the amount of rice consumption but the number of household members had a positive effect on the amount of rice consumption and education had not effect on the level of rice consumption. Income has a positive effect on the quality of rice consumption but the number of household members, age, and education do not effect the quality of rice consumption. The interpretation results show that high income household have the opportunity to consume premium quality rice by 0,86% and have the opportunity to consume medium quality rice by 0,14%.
