Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of yield effeciency of crushing chicken manure on some drying time and blade rotation speed by using crusher horizontal type. This research was conducted at the Workshop and Agricultural Machine Tools Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, from May 2021 to September 2021. The method used was a factorial randomized block design (RAKF) with two research factors, which were the drying time of the material (A) and the rotation speed of the blade (B), with three treatment levels and three treatment combinations. The result of this research indicated that the drying time of the material had a significant impact on the parameters of the tool's effective capacity, the efficiency of the results of breaking chunks, the percentage of remaining material and foreign material separation, fuel requirements, and fuel costs, While the treatment of blade rotation speed had a significant impact on the tool's working capacity, fuel requirements, and material costs. The interaction of material drying time and blade rotation speed had a significant impact on the parameters of the tool's effective capacity, fuel requirements, and fuel costs. The highest percentage of breaking chunks was found in treatment (A3) which was 95.89%, the highest percentage of remaining material was found in treatment (A1) which was 18.22%, the highest percentage of foreign matter was found in treatment (A1) which was 4.64%. The highest effective capacity of the tool was found in the combination of 3 weeks drying time of chicken manure and blade rotation speed of 300 rpm (A3B3) which was 220.07 kg/hour, the highest fuel requirement was found in the combination of 1 week drying time of chicken manure and blade rotation speed of 300 rpm (A1B3) which was 2.13 (liters/hour) and the highest fuel cost was found in the combination of 1 week drying time of chicken manure and blade rotation speed of 300 rpm (A1B3) which was Rp. 123.68/ kg.
