Abstract

International cooperation is important for every country. This study will analyze one form of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, namely the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement which has been commenced since 2008. This study aims to analyze IJEPA cooperation on investment in Indonesia in the automotive industry sector. Focusing on the initial objectives, implementation of the principles embodied in the IJEPA collaboration, and the resulting impact of this collaboration. The research method used is a qualitative-descriptive approach. By using the concept of regime effectiveness, this study will show important things in this concept which include: problem malignancy, problem solving management, output, outcome, and impact of the ongoing IJEPA collaboration. The results of this study reveal the initial goals and interests of each country in investment cooperation within the IJEPA framework. With Indonesia's interest in increasing the competitiveness of local companies and Japan to provide convenience for investors in Indonesia. From the results of the existing analysis, IJEPA's cooperation on investment, especially in the automotive industry, shows less effective results. This is factored in by the implementation of the two countries that are not in line with the principles, norms, and initial objectives of the regime's formation. However, the cooperation between the two related countries has at least helped the Indonesian economy in the automotive industry sector.
