Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of legal aid institutions (LBH) in providing legal aid based on Law no. 16 of 2011 at Serasan Jaya Musi Banyuasin. The informants in this study were 3 members of LBH MUBA and 5 people who had been associated with LBH in Serasan Jaya and 1 advocate who was not a member of LBH, which in total were collected 9 people who were obtained using purposive sampling technique with consideration of people who have been in contact with LBH MUBA . Data collection techniques used are documentation, interviews, and observation. Based on the results of data analysis, LBH MUBA has played a good role in providing legal assistance to the community in Serasan Jaya, MUBA Regency, this is evident from LBH MUBA providing assistance in civil cases starting from peace efforts, first-level decisions, appeal court decisions, decisions court of cassation, and redesign.
