Abstract
Combination of lime using agricultural and alternative lime for liming fish ponds is an effort to improve the quality of soil swamp and water pH. The use of lime is not only influenced by pH but also the content of organic C-soil. The purpose of this study is to find out the best combination of alternative lime with calcite on different C-organic soils in increasing the pH of soil and water as a medium for rearing of catfish. This research was conducted in November-December 2019 at the Laboratory of Experimental Pond Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (RALF). The first factor was combination of alternative limes that are 50% snail shell lime and 50% calcite (K1), 50% blood clam shells lime and 50% calcite (K2) and 50% mussel shells lime and 50% calcite lime (K3). The second factor was the soil C-organic content that are 19.72% (C1) and 59.98% (C2). The dose of lime was 16000 kg.ha-1. The results of this study indicate that the treatment K3C2 (combination of 50% lime of mussel freshwater shells with 50% calcite lime at soil organic C content of 59.98%) was the best treatments that able to increase soil pH from 3.3 to 7.07 and water pH from 3.3 to 7.0 with 100% survival rate of catfish and absolute length growth of 6.37 cm and absolute weight growth of 12.37 g.
