Abstract

The research is located in Ci Ngebul and its surroundings, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. This study aims to identify geomorphology and stratigraphy as well as to reconstruct the structure and geological history. This study uses four methods, including pre-field research, field research, lab and studio analysis, and report preparation. The field research consisted of describing rock characteristics including lithofacies, rock thickness and paleontological sampling. The lab analysis carried out is a paleontological analysis which aims to identify the naming of fossils, determination of biodatum, determination of biozones and biostratigraphic correlation. Studio analysis is performed to interpret and process stratigraphic column data, determine the type of facies, interpret the depositional process and classify the depositional environment. This study aims to identify the turbidite facies and perform biostratigraphic correlation which is described in the form of a 2-dimensional correlation model. The turbidite facies in the Halang Formation in the study area consist of Classical Turbidite (CT) and Massive Sandstone (MS). The Classical Turbidite facies are composed of alternating sandstones and slabs with varying sedimentary structures and thicknesses. Massive sandstone facies are composed of fine to coarse sandstones that are relatively thick. The biostratigraphic correlation of the four lines shows that the Halang Formation in the study area has a relative age range, namely Middle Miocene - Pliocene (N12-N18). Paleobatimetry is located at Upper Batial depth or 405 fathoms - 641 fathoms. Based on facies characteristics and biostratigraphic bathymetry analysis, it shows an indication of deepening up with a deposition pattern from bottom to top indicating an upward coarsening pattern.
