Abstract

Clinical breast examination (SADANIS) is a breast examination by trained medical personnel that is useful for early detection of breast cancer. This study was conducted to provide an overview of the perceptions and behaviors of women of childbearing age in the Clinical Breast Early Examination (SADANIS) so that they can provide information on the prevention and early detection of breast cancer. The design in this study uses a analytic design with a cross sectional approach and sampling with a two-population cross sectional method using a two-proportion formula, where the number of samples per category has been determined. The sample used in this study were women of childbearing age aged 15-49 years with 88 respondents. The results showed that 44 respondents had never done a clinical breast examination and 44 respondents had had a clinical breast examination, based on research analysis using the Chi-Square test showed that there were five variables related to the behavior of clinical breast examination in the work area of ​​the Basuki Rahmat Health Center Palembang city is Perceived susceptibility (PR = 0.220 95% CI = 0.057-0.852, p = 0.041) , perceived severity (PR=15,960, 95% CI=3,425-74,361, p=0,000), cues to action (PR=12, 95% CI=2,558-56,300), p=0,001) and self efficacy (PR= 14.538 95% CI=3.115-67.885, p=0.000). The variables that are not related are the perception of benefits and barrier. It can be concluded that in populations who have a low perception of vulnerability as a protective factor not to perform SADANIS behavior, education and information are needed to provide understanding, and awareness of women of childbearing age to perform clinical breast examinations.
