Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana investasi asing jangka pendek (portofolio investment) dan suku bunga Sertifikat Bank Indonesia terhadap harga valas (kurs) nilai tukar rupiah (Rp/US$) di Indonesia. Data yang digunakan dalam penetian ini adalah data sekunder, yaitu data time series periode 1995-2006. Teknik analisis yang dipakai adalah model regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai koefisien determiasi (R) sebesar 56% yang berarti bahwa variabel bebas investasi asing jangka pendek (portofolio investment) dan suku bunga Sertifikat Bank Indonesia mampu menjelaskan nilai tukar sebesar 56% sedangkan 44% mammpu dielaskan oleh variabel lain yang tidak termasuk dalam model. Regresi menunjukkan bahwa investasi asing jangka pendek (portofolio investment) dan suku bunga Sertifikat Bank Indonesia berpengaruh terhadap kurs nilai tukar rupiah. Peningkatan investasi asing jangka pendek (portofolio investment) mengakibakan nilai tukar rupiah terapresiasi dan suku bunga Sertifikat Bank Indonesia akan mengakibatkan nilai tukar rupiah terdepresiasi.
