Abstract

TEST ANTIFOULING ACTIVITY OF Avicennia marina (API-API) FRACTION AS A NATURAL ANTIFOULING ON MACROFOULING AT SUNGSANG WHARF Ulil Sarifatul Aliyah NIM.08041281722022 SUMMARY Biofouling organisms generally cause problems that are detrimental to shipping transportation, such as damage to ship hulls, destroying structured substrates, blocking sewage lines. This problem can be overcome by using antifouling paint which usually contains trybuyultin (TBT) compound which prevents the attachment of biofouling. The compound has an adverse effect on non-target organisms and is proven, due to its toxic properties and in the marine environment. So the development of antifouling paint using natural compounds is needed. Alkaloid compounds, tannins, terpenoids and steroids are some natural substances known to have antifouling effects. Avicennia marina is a plant that contains alkaloids, saponins, tannins, phenolics, flavonoids, triterpenoids and glycosides. This study aims to determine the active compounds in Avicenna marina as an environmentally friendly alternative to antifouling. This research was conducted from February to June 2021. The method used in this study was experimental. Based on the research that has been done, it can be seen that the leaf fraction of Avicennia marina has secondary metabolites. The methanol fraction contains steroids, flavonoids, and saponins. The n-hexane fraction contains tannins, triterpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and the ethyl acetate fraction contains triterpenoids, flavonoids, and saponins. Based on the results of One Way ANOVA test, the effect of concentration and fraction of methanol, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate fraction on the area of attachment of macrofouling has a significant effect. the methanol fraction and the ethyl acetate fraction have a percentage of the area of attachment above 50%, which means that the value is in the high category. The percentage of area attached to the n-hexane fraction has a value of 46.3%, which means it has a medium category value. The macrofouling attached to the test plate were sea slugs (Littoraria angulifera) and barnacles (Semibalanus balanoides). Keywords : Antifouling, Macrofouling, Avicennia marina, Fractionation UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIFOULING FRAKSI DAUN Avicennia marina (API-API) SEBAGAI ANTIFOULING ALAMI PADA MAKROFOULING DI DERMAGA SUNGSANG Ulil Sarifatul Aliyah NIM.08041281722022 RINGKASAN Organisme biofouling secara umum menimbulkan masalah yang merugikan transportasi perkapalan, seperti kerusakan pada lambung kapal, menghancurkan substrat secara terstruktur, tersumbatnya saluran limbah. Fraksi metanol mengandung senyawa steroid, flavonoid, saponin.
