Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of quenching heat treatment on the hardness properties of high carbon steel for rubber tree cutting blades. , water cooling media, salt water cooling media, SAE 40 oil cooling media, and cooking oil cooling media. The results of this study were that the specimens without treatment obtained an average yield of 380.72 HN, on water cooling media 966.81 HN, salt water cooling media 1174.52 HN, SAE 40 oil cooling media 376.68 HN, and cooking oil cooling media 409.7 HN. The most effective cooling medium for quenching is the salt water cooling medium because it has the highest hardness.
