Abstract

Incomplete abortion is an abortion that occurs when some of the products of conception have been born or come out of the uterine cavity, but some are still left behind. It is alleged that 26% of all pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion. In a report on the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) conducted in 2010 it was stated that in the last 5 years as many as 4% of married women aged 10-59 years had experienced an abortion. This study aims to determine the characteristics of mothers who experienced incomplete abortions at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang for the period January 2019–December 2020. This study used a descriptive observational method using purposive sampling. This study used secondary data derived from the medical records of mothers who experienced incomplete abortion as many as 155 samples. Univariate analysis was performed using the SPSS application. The results of this study, based on sociodemographic characteristics, the samples that dominated were aged 20-35 years (67.7%), low education (85.2%), not working (75.5%), and residing in Palembang City. (65.2%), more often experienced incomplete abortion. Based on obstetric medical characteristics, it was found that the sample dominated 9-12 weeks of gestation (45.2%), multigravid (62.6%), multiparity (38.1%), had no history of abortion (74.2%), did not experience anemia (65.2%), and did not have comorbidities (75.5%) more often experienced incomplete abortion.
