Abstract

This research examined "Kinship Network in Improving the Household Economy of Papaya Peasants in Cinta Marga Village, Gelam Bay District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency". The problem in this research is forming kinship networks and contributing to the utilization of kinship networks to improve peasants' household economy. The method used in this research is the qualitative method. Research strategies were used in this research is case studies. So that in this research was able to describe in-depth the kinship network in improving the peasants' household economy in Cinta Marga Village. This research shows that the papaya peasant's kinship network is based on blood ties and marriages from first to third generations. The pattern of hiring peasants in kinship networks is to use genealogical nodes in the family of relatives, Mamang, Bibik, Kiay, Muli, Morli and Meranai, to manage agricultural land to harvest and post-harvest. Kinship networks also have implications for distributing tasks in agricultural land management. The establishment of a kinship network in Cinta Marga Village dramatically improves the peasants' household economics, both the fulfilment of children's education and household living needs. In improving the household economy, this kinship network is inseparable from various recruiting patterns involving the village.
