Abstract

Introduction: Pain is a condition where there is actual potential tissue damage associated with sensory and emotional discomfort. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) which is a quantitative and valid method of measuring pain for measuring postoperative pain. This research is expected to be able to validate the application-based VAS so as to perform the interpretation of pain.. Method: This study is an analytical observational study with a cross sectional approach that is focused on validating the application-based VAS pain scale. Data collection using Consecutive sampling technique. The research data used were 282 postoperative acute pain patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang on October 13 to November 3, 2021. The data to be obtained are patient distribution data and the correlation between the two variables. The data were then processed and analyzed using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis (Pearson test). Result: From 282 patients, the highest range of postoperative acute pain patients according to age was middle age (18-65 years) (88.3%), female gender (53.9%), general anesthetic technique (71.6%), last education more education school (84%), bivariant analysis obtained p-value 0.001 and r=0.978 Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between the paper VAS and application VAS variables.
