Abstract

In the last five years, the incidence of cancer continues to increase. Lung cancer is known as a malignant disease with the highest mortality rate in the world. In 2018, based on data from the WHO, lung cancer was ranked first in the number of new cases, which amounted to two million new cases worldwide. In Indonesia, lung cancer occupies the top three most cancer incidences. Risk factors for lung cancer also include many factors such as age, gender, and work history. The incidence of lung cancer in Indonesia is mostly diagnosed when it has reached the final stage. One of the necessary examinations is radiological examination using CT Scan modalities. CT Scan examination is very helpful to give a strong impression of the occurrence of a malignancy of lung cancer cases. This type of research is a descriptive observational study with a cross sectional approach. Data were taken using secondary data in the form of medical records of lung cancer patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the period March 1st, 2021 to September 31st, 2021, who conducted a CT Scan examination at the Radiology Installation and histopathological examination at the Anatomical Pathology Installation of Dr. RSUP. Muhammad Hoesin Palembang. From 119 medical records obtained 54 medical records that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. It was found that most lung cancer patients were male (72.2%), with an age category of 55-64 years (42.6%), and had a history of self-employment (35.2%). The most histopathological variant of the incidence of lung cancer is adenocarcinoma. And the most common CT scan images are tumors in the right lung, peripheral locations, with lobulations and spiculations. In this study, lung cancer cases were mostly found in men in the age group between 55-64 year old and had a history of working outdoors. Based on the histopathological variants, many types of adenocarcinoma were found with the characteristics of the CT scan results that most commonly found were peripheral tumors in the right lung with lobulation and spiculation as markers of malignancy.
