Abstract

A person who has cognitive impairment is characterized by a progressive decline in most cognitive abilities, functional independence, and social relationships. Cognitive disorders include attention, executive function, visuospatial, language, and memory domain disorders. Cognitive impairment has a significant impact because it affects activities of daily living and social functioning, resulting in an increase in dependence and an individual's inability to live independently. This study aims to determine the characteristics of patients with cognitive impairment at Klinik Memori RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period April 2018 - May 2021. This study is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design and uses secondary data in the form of medical resume data at Klinik Memori RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period 2018-2021 who met the inclusion criteria and did not have the exclusion criteria. From this study, it was found that the proportion of patients with cognitive impairment at Klinik Memori RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang is 90,4%. Patients with cognitive impairment at Klinik Memori had the highest distribution in the group aged 61-70 years (30.6%), male (60.4%), high school education level (40.8%), and not working (31.8%). Most of the patients had referral diagnosis of stroke (49.8%), disturbances in the memory domain (94.6%), and were diagnosed with MCI (64.5%) after some examinations at Klinik Memori. It was also found that the highest risk factor was hypertension (56.7%). Based on the results of the examination using the MMSE and MoCA-Ina instruments, it was found that most of the patients were belong to the mild cognitive impairment group (33.5%) and the cognitive impairment group (95.5%). Patients with cognitive impairment at Klinik Memori RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang mostly aged 61-70 years old, male, with the last high school education, and not working. Most of the patients referred with a diagnosis of stroke, had disturbances in the memory domain, were diagnosed with MCI after some examinations at Klinik Memori, and had risk factors such as hypertension. Based on the MMSE examination, most of the patients were in the mild cognitive impairment group (score 20-25) and based on the MoCA-Ina examination, most of the patients were in the cognitive impaired group (score <26).
