Abstract

This research is entitled the general election supervisory agency Ogan Ilir communication strategy in preventing election violations. This research uses communication planning theory accroding to Cutlip & Center, with qualitative descriptive method. The process of collecting research data is carried out by in-depth interviews, observation and documentation studies. The general election supervisory agency Ogan Ilir is faced with a problem regarding the issue of election violations commited by one of the pairs of candidates for regent. This issue was immediately responded by the general election supervisory agency Ogan Ilir by prioritizing of communication planning in accordance by Cutlip & Center. It has proven by the steps taken by the general election supervisory agency Ogan Ilir such as fact finding, planning, communication and evaluation. The results of this research indicate that the communication strategy carried out by the general election supervisory agency Ogan Ilir emphasizes preventive actions such as making community movement programs to protect voting rights, socializing election regulations to camdidate pairs, public and all parties involved in the regional elections of Ogan Ilir, But still pay attention to health protocols during the covid-19 pandemic.
