Abstract

Snakehead (Channa striata) is one type of fish water swamp which was high economical value. Culture of Snakehead has been developed to increase production, such as an effective cultivation system with biofloc technology was developed using the addition of probiotics. The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of swamp and commercial probiotic candidates added to aquaculture media to optimize the production of snakehead culture with a biofloc system. The research was carried out at the Aquaculture Laboratory, Fisheries Basic Laboratory and Aquaculture Experimental Pond, Aquaculture Study Program and Microbiology Laboratory, Fishery Products Biochemistry, Fishery Products Technology Study Program, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in December 2020-January 2021. The research design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using two treatments with three replications, namely the additing of commercial probiotics (P1) and the probiotic candidates from swamps (P2). The dose of each probiotics is 10 mL m-3 , with a density of probiotic bacteria from swamps is 105 CFU mL-1 . The results of this study showed that the best treatment was probiotic candidat from swamp (P2) in snakehead culture media with biofloc system, with water quality in the range that can be tolerated by snakehead fish pH 6.2-7.7, temperature 26.1-30.5oC, dissolved oxygen 6.34-7.47 mg L-1 , biochemical oxygen demand 0.48 -0.93 mg L-1 , ammonia 0.01-1.47 mg L-1 , with produces survival rate of 99.79%, feed efficiency of 120.11 %, daily weight growth rate of 4.10 % day-1 , and daily length growth rate of 1.49 % day-1 .
