Abstract

Elderly is the final period of human life that experiences a progressive decline in physical, cognitive, and other functions which result in an increase in the burden on the health system. The decline in physical and cognitive functions can affect a person's old life. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the incidence of urinary incontinence in the elderly at Tanjung Raman Public Health Center, Prabumulih city. The aim of this study is cross-sectional with the elderly population above 60 years and the number of samples was 66 people. This study used secondary data, which was obtained from the register book at the Puskesmas. This study uses the chi square test. The results of this study found that most of the respondents were aged 65 (57.6%), female gender (69.7%), abnormal body mass index (60.6%), and urinary incontinence (80.3%). The results of statistical tests found that there was no relationship between the respondent's age and urinary incontinence (p=0,207); there is a relationship between the sex of the respondent and urinary incontinence (p=0.015; OR=5.467); there was a relationship between body mass index and urinary incontinence (p=0.006; OR=7.708). Based on the results of this study, body weight in the elderly should be controlled so that it is in the normal range as an effort to prevent urinary incontinence.
