Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) noted that about 32% of the population worldwide has been infected with pulmonary TB bacteria. In Indonesia, every day as many as 400 people die from pulmonary TB infection. The results of the recording of the Pembina Public Health Center, Jakabaring, Palembang City, there was an increase in the incidence of pulmonary TB throughout 2019 totaling 38 cases and in July 2020 there were 53 cases. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the physical condition of the house and the incidence of pulmonary TB in the Pembina Public Health Center, Jakabaring District, Palembang City in 2020. This study used a cross-sectional study design with Simple Random Sampling (SRS) sampling technique as many as 98 respondents through interviews. and direct measurement of the physical condition of the respondent's house. Data analysis was performed univariate and bivariate using chi-square test. The results showed that natural lighting (p-value 0.008) and house occupant density (p-value 0.028) were associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB, while air humidity (p-value 0.725) and house ventilation area (p-value 0.303) were not associated with incidence of pulmonary TB. Therefore, it is suggested to the community to keep the physical condition of the house in good condition, and based on this research specifically on natural lighting and the density of the occupants of the house and regular socialization from the Health Service through the Pembina Community Health Center to the community.
