Abstract

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) as one of the air pollutants formed by the combustion of fossil fuel, therefore fuel power plants with coal has a big role in producing SO2 in the world as PLTGU Indralaya. At certain concentrations, SO2 can cause health problems in the form of abnormalities in respiratory tract function, decreased lung function, irritation of the eyes, throat and coughs. This research was aimed to annalyze the magnitude of the risk of exposure to SO2 on worker in the PT PLN (Persero) Sector Keramasan Unit PLTGU Indralaya. This type of research is quatitative research using the Environmental Health Risk Assessment Method. The sample of respondents were taken with purposive sampling method as many as 32 workers. The research was showed the average concentration of SO2 is 0,085 mg/m3. Non-carsinogenic intake value obtained for esposure realtime is 0,0025 mg/kg/day and the lifetime is 0,0069 mg/kg/day. The risk level (RQ) for exposure realtime is 0,0959 and the lifetime is 0,2668 showed the result of RQ<1. The conclusion of this research is the worker on PLTGU Indralaya has no risk in getting non-carcinogenic health problems due to exposure of SO2. The suggestions for company as policy maker can do routine monitoring and do futher studies of the conyaminants out of the industrial activities including SO2 in order not to endanger the worker and people who work or live directly close to the location.
