Abstract

The objectives of this study were (1) to identify the cooperation patterns that have been carried out by the society in the development of urban farming programs in 2 Ilir, Pelembang, (2) to calculate the income and to measure the level of social and environmental benefits in the Urban Farming program in the 2 Ilir, Palembang, (3) and to determine the strategy for developing the Urban Farming program in 2 Ilir, Palembang. This study was conducted in 2 Ilir, Palembang, and the site selection was done intentionally. The data collection was carried out in December 2018 to February 2019. This study applied the census method by using all members of the female farmer group as samples. The results showed that the urban farming program was a collaboration between women farmer groups and PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja. The urban farming is an environmental development program which is one of the activities in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja. This collaboration includes distribution of inputs (fertilizers, soil and seeds) and planting facilities such as polybags and plant racks. The community development is a grant, assistance provided is direct and no return assistance. Based on the calculation of farm income, the income is IDR 4,722,504 per year. The calculation of non-farm income is IDR 3,254,250 per year. The score of the social benefits level measurement in the urban farming was 27.29, and it was classified as medium category. The environmental benefits level got a score of 26.54 with a moderate score. The IFE matrix got a score of -0,21 and the EFE matrix got a score of 0,65 so in the grand matrix the business position strategy was in quadrant III or in the W-O strategy position. In this quadrant, that can be done in the urban farming development are (1) Trying hydroponic of verticultural cultivation tecniques (2)Optimizing yields (3) Strandardising legalization and licence.
