Abstract

The Indonesian National Police obtained the mandate from the law which is responsible for maintaining security and order, protecting, serving, enforcing the law and protecting the public. One such tasker is an effort to prevent acts of theft and violence by the Resort Police of the East OKU Regency. In seeking answers to the problems of the authors using the method of empirical research, by conducting interviews with several other parties the East OKU Resort Police and the perpetrators of theft and acts of violence with violence. The results of this first research are, the things that cause crime theft and violence are caused by two factors, namely endogenous and exogenous factors, but the causative factors that often lead to violent theft in violence in the East OKU district are economic level, low education which causes unemployment, the environment, and lack of legal awareness. , and supported by situations and conditions, where the perpetrators of crime know the conditions of the place and time in carrying out the action. The second research result, carried out by using the efforts of penal and non-penal efforts. Prevention by means of efforts to emphasize more on the repressive nature, namely actions taken after the occurrence of crime. Non-penal prevention efforts are efforts that focus on the nature of preventive, which is to prevent or deter before the occurrence of a crime. This is done by holding patrols and guard posts in vulnerable areas, and conducting socialization on the law, so that the public understands the law.
