Abstract
The objective of current research was to study the effect of Rock Phosphate on colonization of indigenous mycorrhizae, P absorption, and growth of maize, upland rice and long bean in lmperata cyl indrical-grown ultisols. The research was conducted from August 2003 to March 2004, using Split Plot Design. The Main plot was crop type (maize, upland rice and long bean); while the sub-plots was Rock Phosphate application rates (0, 25 and 50% of recommended rate of P fertilization). The result of current study indicated that mycorrhizal colonization was not affected by Rock Phosphate, and the most extensive colonization level was found on maize Regardless of crop type (data pooled over crop types), only hyphal colonization was significantly correlated with P availability. Hyphal colonization was not significantly correlated with pH and P absorption by the three crops. Refressed over each crop, hyphal colonization showed a significant negative correlation with biomass dry weight of maize.
