Abstract
Dengue virus that causes dengue fever (DD disease) and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) nowadays become a health problem that needs to be solve as many cases tend to be increase in Indonesia. This dengue virus is carried by Aedes aegypti mosquito. Based on that, the best way to decreasing the case, is by controling the subject which doesn’t give a bad effect to environment. One of the best method is using fraction from the extract of ( Jatropha curcas L.), this fraction will be testing to instar larvae III from Aedes aegypti, instar larvae III used as a subject because the movement is still limited in this stadium. The purpose from this research is to know which fraction from Jatropha extract that have activity as larvasida to Aedes aegypti, also to know the activity from the active fraction of Jatropha leave compare with abate as positive control, then to know the value of LC50 from the active fraction and extract of the Jatropha to larva Aedes aegypti, and to know the active compound from Jatropha leave contained in the active fraction. The research will be design by using a complete randomized design. Negative control represent by aquadest, kind of treatment concentration are 0.5%, 1%, 5%, 10%, Termefos as a positive control and each treatment will be repeated 4 times. The research will be analyzed by using Anova and probit analysis Based on the research that has been done, the result from the three fractions show that n-hexane fraction has the highest larvacid activity. The extract and n-hexane fraction of Jatropha leave is able to kill 50% of test larvae with approximate LC50 in extract near to 0,159% and fraction 0,454%. The compound which contained in Jatropha curcas are tannins, alkaloids, steroids and phenols. The conclusion from this research show that active fraction which has the highest larvacid activity from the three fractions is n-hexan fraction of Jatropha leaf (Jatropha curcas L.). The active fraction and extract of Jatropha leaf have a smaller ability than abate, since both the n-hexane and extract fractions had an optimum concentration of 10% and 5% with able to kill 77 until 80 Aedes aegypti larvae, while the temefos in 1 % are able to kill 80% of Ae.aegypti larvae. LC50 from the Jatropha leaves n-hexan fraction is able to kill 50% test larvae was in 0.454% and the LC50 value from the extract of Jatropha curcas is able to kill 50% test larvae was in 0.159%. The active compounds contained in the n-hexane active fraction are tannins, alkaloids, steroids and phenols
