Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study and subject of this research is 23 students of 8th grade-student of SMP Negeri 1 Banyuasin III. In this study aims to determine the problem-solving abilities of 8th grade-student on cartesian coordinates by learning mathematical modeling assisted by learning comics. The technique of data collection in this study was a written test in the form of a post-test, and interviews. Based on the results of the study, it was found that learning mathematical modeling by using learning comics was able to make a significant contribution to the problem solving abilities of students at SMP Negeri 1 Banyuasin III. The result of the achievement the problem solving ability of 8th grade-student with the average 55.43% which is categorized as sufficient. Students are more interested in using mathematical modeling learning using learning comics. Keywords : Problem Solving Ability, Learning Comics, Learning Mathematical Modeling.
