Abstract
Materials and methods of making human bone implants continue to be developed. HA powder is used as a candidate for bone graft material that has almost the same structure as human bones and teeth. HA powder is synthesized by calcination method at 600°C for 1 hour. Ha powder results measuring 200 μm. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) combined with HA forms a composite material to enhance its characteristics. The HA/PVA composite is synthesized by the cold sintering method at 90°C, 100°C, and 120°C with a pressure of 600 Mpa for 30 minutes. The composition of HA/PVA used is 70 wt% HA / 30 wt% PVA, 80 wt% HA / 20 wt% PVA and 90 wt% HA / 10 wt% PVA. Ha/PVA composite porosity percentage by 7.2405% to 30.7468%. Ha/PVA composite compressive strength value of 20.625 Mpa to 45.1884 Mpa. Phasa that dominates in XRD testing is HA which has 12 peaks and PVA has 7 peaks. HA/PVA composite pores on micron-sized SEM observations accompanied by white fibers.
