Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of the combination of Lactobacillus bulgaricus metabolite and the extract of Temu Kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata) rhizome, each of which has secondary metabolites and is suspected of having antibacterial activity, one of which is against Escherichia coli bacteria. This combination is expected to be able to inhibit bacteria better. Antibacterial tests were carried out by looking for MIC, MBC, inhibition zone values from the results of the MIC test for the Lactobacillus bulgaricus metabolite and extracts of the Temu Kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata) rhizome singly or in combination, and the FICI value. From the results of the study, the MIC of a single Lactobacillus bulgaricus metabolite was 12.5% with an inhibition zone of 4.73 ± 0.306 mm (Weak), a MIC of a single Intersectional Key rhizome extract was 0.005% with an inhibition zone of 7.43 ± 1,401 (Medium), and a combination of Lactobacillus bulgaricus metabolite and Temu Kunci rhizome extract at 12.5% metabolite concentration and 0.005% extract with an inhibition zone of 6.93 ± 0.907 mm (Medium). The MBC of the single Lactobacillus bulgaricus metabolite was 50%, the MBC of the Temu Kunci rhizome extract was 0.05%, and the MBC of the combined metabolite of Lactobacillus bulgaricus metabolite and the Temu Kunci rhizome extract was 12.5% and the extract was 0.05%. FICI value Combination of Lactobacillus bulgaricus metabolite and Temu Kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata) rhizome extract against Escherichia coli is 2, it is said that the combination effect is indifferent. The indifferent combination effect means that the use of the combination as an antibacterial is no different from the single use of the two. Keywords: Antibacterial, Combination, Escherichia coli.
