Abstract
One of the structural elements designed to withstand earthquakes is the beam-column joints. The connection zone is an area that is responsive to earthquake load distribution, so the right design must qualify seismic criteria. The difficulty of compacting conventional concrete due to the density of reinforcement can be overcome by self-compacting concrete material. This research purpose to analyze the behavior of self compacting concrete exterior beam-column joints with variations of shear reinforcement on cyclic lateral loads. The analysis was carried out using ANSYS based on the finite element method. The results of the analysis are hysteresis curve, maximum story drift, stress contour, ductility, stiffness and strength of the structure. The behavior of exterior beam-column joints without shear reinforcement is compared with the behavior of beam-column joints using horizontal or diagonal shear reinforcement. Beam-column joints without shear reinforcement are able to withstand compressive stresses of -17.22 s.d. -3.33 MPa, while the beam-column connection using horizontal or diagonal shear reinforcement is able to withstand compressive stresses of -20 to -20. -3.33 MPa. The highest ductility value of 3.6169 was achieved by the beam-column connection without shear reinforcement because the structure yielded faster. The results show that horizontal or diagonal shear reinforcement affects the performance of the structure in resisting cyclic lateral loads.
