Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh strategi Gathering Information dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 14 Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen semu. Sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu X IPA 1 berjumlah 30 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan X IPA 3 bejumlah 30 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan menggunakan strategi Gathering Information sedangkan kelas kontrol diberi perlakuan dengan strategi konvensional. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes tertulis dan teknik pengolahan data menggunakan perhitungan uji-t dengan program SPSS 25, dan proses pembelajaran menggunakan Whatshap mengingat peneliti melakukan penelitian secara online. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan hasil tes antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Nilai rata-rata tes awal menulis teks eksposisi kelas eksperimen 59,27 dan kelas kontrol 53,87. Nilai rata-rata tes akhir kelas eksperimen 82,30 dan kelas kontrol 68,17. Hasil perhitungan uji-t membuktikan bahwa thitung > ttabel = 8,242 > 2,002 dengan df = 58 pada tingkat signifikansi 95% (α =0,025). thitung lebih besar dari ttabel maka Ho ditolak. Dengan demikian, Ha yang berbunyi “Ada perbedaan siswa yang diajarkan dengan strategi Gathering Information dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 14 Palembang” diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan strategi Gathering Information lebih berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 14 Palembang.
