Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kualitatif dapat membantu peserta didik untuk mengaitkan kemampuan yang dimilikinya dalam menghadapi kesulitan dalam proses pembelajara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kualitatif peserta didik melalui pendekatan Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT) pada topik Aljabar materi SPLTV. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitiannya yaitu peserta didik kelas X MIPA Olimpiade SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang sebanyak 6 orang yang memiliki kemampuan tinggi, sedang dan rendah dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil data penelitian dianalisis dengan tiga tahapan yaitu, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa indikator kemampuan berpikir kualitatif siswa melalui pendekatan RMT pada topik aljabar yang paling banyak muncul yaitu labeling, comparing, visualizing, using more than one source of information, encoding dan decoding. Sedangkan indikator yang jarang muncul yaitu searching systematically to gather clear and complete information.
